  • The Family Tree

Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who hold her fast. Proverbs 3:16-18

ABOUT US.

WHAT IS OUR NAME?

Etz H’Chayim translates from the Hebrew language as “The Tree of Life.”It appears in the Bible roughly ten times. Though there are several figurative meanings it best known as Living Word. “It first appears in the Bible in Genesis 2:9 when man (male and female) are in the Garden of Eden. Proverbs records in 3:17-19 the Tree of Life as the wisdom of Torah. “Her ways are pleasant ways. And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who hold her fast. The LORD by wisdom founded the earth, by understanding He established the heavens.”

In Judaism, Etz Chayim itself represents the Torah, or instructions. Believers in Yeshua HaMashiach refer to him as the Tree of Life. Yeshua is seed, root, trunk, branches and fruit. All who believe him to be Messiah receive life abundantly. As it relates to our community, Etz Chayim is the “Tree of Lives.”

WHY THE NAME ETZ H’CHAYIM?

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. Psalm 1:2-4

A tree requires several things to grow and flourish. A solid root system, proper watering, sufficient sunlight and cultivating pruning from time to time. At Etz H’Chayim our desire is to flourish spiritually and physically. We ground ourselves in the full counsel of God’s holy word. We seek Holy Spirit to pour out the refreshing water of life. We demonstrate the love and power of salvation in the begotten Son. We expect and accept correction for fruitfulness to abound. We hope to be the Lord’s planting in the earth always reflecting Him in all we are and in all we do.

THE FAMILY TREE

“Seasons in life do not define you, but they will refine you.”
Yisrael Ben Avraham

We are a vibrant international community living to reflect our original identity as the “image and likeness” of Eternal Father through His only begotten Son, Yeshua HaMashiach. Our core mission is to engage and participate through the Anointed One and His Anointing, by first embracing His love and secondly, promoting lifelong learning. We seek to serve as a bridge between the Lord’s Hebraic biblical heritage and the global community.

As a learning resource center with students around the world we present a Hebraic position to include Torah observance while accepting the revelation of Yeshua, the Messiah. We do this through ongoing learning communities, books, study programs, seminars, conferences and guided Israel tours. Our aim is to help renew the believer's faith, by encouraging discipleship, and the whole Word of God.

OUR MISSION.

Humanity is biology; salvation is life. Etz H’Chayim recognizes and affirms the importance of both. We believe all people are a part of the Lord’s heritage. We seek to promote godly diversity across the international society. As a place of exchange, development, and creativity cultural diversity is essential. As we participate in the Lord’s plan, our interactive discipleship must demonstrate a love that emphasizes multicultural identities. For this to happen there must be an interactive exchange of all citizenry. Within the framework of the Lord’s kingdom, Etz H'Chayim is "The Family Tree,"a place where godly minds converge, and kingdom leaders emerge.

VISION

Etz H’Chayim inspires and motivates its students to change the world. Our vision is a labor of love for teaching. We are a resource center restoring a servant’s heart. We celebrate our Hebraic identity while fostering a passion for learning and high achievement. We value the WHOLE person by developing both spiritual strength and social courage. Our single most important function makes salvation more than a confession but a way to life.

MISSION

“Salvation is a gift, discipleship is a process.”
Dwight Pryor, Judeo Christian Studies, Founder

The mission of Etz H’Chayim is to promote a life of study and learning. This is a privilege, not a power. It is a responsibility, not a right. We want to restore Hebraic biblical culture with social relevancy and spiritual sensitivity. The mission is to develop strong leaders and godly thinkers. As a community of Judeo-Christian disciples in Yeshua we will live by his example - We declare. We explain. We demonstrate.

Deuteronomy 11:18-20
“You shall, therefore, impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (NASB)

Matthew 28:18-20
Yeshua came and talked with them. He said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make people from all nations into talmidim, (disciples) immersing them into the reality of the Father, the Son, and the Ruach HaKodesh, (The Holy Spirit) and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember! I will be with you always, yes, even until the end of the age.” (CJB)

OBJECTIVE

Beloved is Man who was created in the Divine image.”
Avot 3:14

Justice, loving-kindness, and humility is the threefold cord not easily broken. Etz H’Chayim’s objective is to reflect this threefold cord in the earth. Our hope is to achieve a biblical standard for learning, research, and community service. The goal is to produce opportunities designed to assist humanity in becoming aware of social stewardship in both spiritual and secular communities.

Micah 6:8
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Matthew 6:10
‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.

OUR VALUES.

Our values stem from our passion for life. As a learning and teaching community we are preparing leaders through our core values. We initiate an unchanging standard of integrity, inspiration, excellence, accountability and good stewardship.

Integrity: Consistency between our personal lives and the public message we represent
Inspiration: Presenting a balanced message with truth, grace, and peace
Excellence: Cultivating the highest touchstone of the Chief Cornerstone
Accountability: Interdependence with accountability and transparency
Good Stewardship: Responsible and careful use of our teaching platforms

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • We believe in one God, as he has revealed himself in the Scriptures. "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One." (Deuteronomy 6:4)
  • We believe that Yeshua is the Son of God, the Messiah, the Eternal One in whom all the fullness of deity dwells in bodily form, and who is the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us, and whose glory we beheld, the glory of the uniquely begotten Son of God, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1-14; Colossians 2:9)
  • We believe that the Spirit of God comforts, teaches, leads, indwells and empowers all whom God regenerates. (Acts 9:31; 1 John 2:27; John 16:13; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 2 Timothy 1:7)
  • We believe that the Bible, both the Tanakh (Old Testament) and the Apostolic Scriptures (New Testament), are the supreme and only inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • We believe that all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
  • We believe Yeshua's death and resurrection accomplished the atonement for all who place their faith in him. Whoever trusts in God, in his work alone, is made a new creation in Yeshua, indwelt by the Spirit of God, and is transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of his own Son. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5, 6)
  • We believe in justification by faith through the grace of God alone, and not by human efforts. One may not earn, merit, or keep this eternal salvation by his own efforts. A new creation is the work of God alone. (Ephesians 2:8-10; Romans 8:29-39)
  • We believe in the spiritual unity and equality of all believers in Yeshua the Messiah. (Ephesians 2:11-22)
  • We believe in the continuity of God's covenants with the Jewish people, the physical people of Israel (Jeremiah 31:35-36 and parallel passages). Part of the fulfillment of these covenants is the physical return of the Jewish people to their promised land. (Deuteronomy 30)
  • We believe that all non-Jewish people who trust in Yeshua are grafted into Israel. While this does not make them Jewish, they are full and equal participants in the covenants of promise. (Ephesians 2:12; Romans 11:11-24; Jeremiah 31:33)
  • We believe that the Torah is a revelation of the righteousness of God and a description (along with the rest of Scripture) of the lifestyle of the redeemed community. (Matthew 5:17-19; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • We believe in the literal, physical return of Messiah to rule and reign upon the throne of David in Jerusalem. We hold to a premillennial view of his return. (Zechariah 14; Revelation 19-20)
  • As believers, we have been given a universal commission to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel…”Mark 16:15
  • As believers, we must not forsake the assembling of ourselves together. That covenant community of believers and our attendance, fellowship, and submission one to another will play a paramount part in our deliverance from this world. Hebrews 10:25
  • Eternal Father has set in the body of Messiah the five-fold ministry gifts of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelist, Shepherds, and Teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Messiah. Ephesians 4:11-13
